![]() It could not come from an external nail or spike. Somehow, the next shop could repair it, but the shop owner said that the tire had a fundamental production failure seeing the extension of the hole. On my first ride with the brand-new Dunlop tires, at a red light, as I started to roll on, there was a big noise “puff” and the rear tire Dunlop Sportmax 180/55ZR17, went flat. So I bought, even not really necessary, a new pair of Dunlop tires, as I was used with the brand. I instantly pulled the subpar Dunlops off my FZ when I bought it new in 2014.ĭue to security reason while driving speedy I am used to have the tires on my motorbike in good conditions. That was the last Dunlop street tires I ever bought and the only bad tire that I have ever purchased out of hundreds of them. They were very quick to bend to my demands. My best guess is that the tire was manufactured wrong with a belt placement issue and they wanted to check the DOT information to track an entire run of tires. The rep instantly told him to replace the tire and save it for them to pickup. ![]() I made him call the rep and explain the symptoms and that I was an intermediate skill rider. I told him that he could check, but I knew that it was in balance. I then took it to the dealer only to get shit from the parts manager saying that it could be out of balance. I line measured the rear wheel to ensure it was centered. I cracked a couple of wheelies and the bike started gyrating from side to side to the point that I was hanging off each side trying to get it under control, thought I was going to crash setting it down. I had a new Dunlop that slid without notice applying throttle coming out of turns. They disintegrate quickly when you haul them down from speed when they deflates rapidly. Given their response, I could never trust their product unless a fix is announced. They’re probably trying to avoid a full recall and possible lawsuits, but that risk is their responsibility. It’s so common, owners carry a spare pump when they ride.ĭunlop should be admitting fault and proving corrective action. I’ve read, over and over, how fuel pumps failed. KTM is still building with defective parts. After reading multiple posts describing the same failure and KTM not permanently fixing and preventing future problems, I decided to never buy that model. ![]() Even some of the replacement tanks for those who got them under warranty warped and did the same thing. When the tank was full, it would spill fuel into the riders laps on hard acceleration. It reminds me of KTM 690 Dukes where the fuel tanks frequently warped and lost the seal around the filler neck. Before I ever bought another Dunlop tire, I would want acknowledgement from the manufacturer and what they did to keep it from ever happening again. ![]() I can’t see how any properly made tire made with the correct materials and procedure could fail that way. ![]()
